What is a kaleidoscope, aside from a long and confusing word to spell?

kaleidoscope noun ka.lei.do.scope

Merriam Webster says it’s an instrument containing loose bits of colored material (such as glass or plastic) between two flat plates and two plane mirrors so placed that changes of position of the bits of material are reflected in an endless variety of patterns.

Replace bits of colored material with life experiences and plane mirrors with your perception of these experiences. In other words, it is a synonym for perspective. With each kaleidoscope twist, your perspective shifts. These shifts aren’t about making something they are not; a tree will never be an airplane. They can lead to new beliefs and understandings of yourself. In our work together, we will use the kaleidoscope twist to help affect the pieces that make up your current beliefs.

Consider for a moment that no one truth exists. If truth is in the eye of the beholder, the essence of truth is merely a perspective; one point of view. Just as the scenery on a train is ever changing, as is our truth. On our journey together we will uncover your perspectives and assess if they are serving your current self and the self you want to be.

The feels, whether you choose to acknowledge them or not, are impacting your life. Maybe you are going through a transition, starting a new relationship/career/separation/job. Maybe you’re looking to elevate an aspect of your life to the next level. You are your own personal guru, I am simply the light helping you find that path.

Suffering is the space between what you have and what you want. If you are ready to change your own mind, or at least ready to dip a toe in, illuminate your path in collaboration with me. Together, we will draw on your biggest resource (yourself) to discover where you are and the way forward.

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” - Dr Seuss

About Me

My name is Michelle Peterson, and after years of searching for the right way to do what I felt called to do, motivate and inspire people, I became interested in coaching. I am certified through Goal Imagery Institute, an International Coaching Federation-accredited school, as a Holistic Life, Executive, & Business Coach. Additionally, I am currently being educated on becoming a somatic therapist. Somatic therapy believes that the mind and body are interconnected and that unresolved trauma will be stored in the body until processed and healed. In our Western culture, there is a heavy focus on intellectualizing our feelings rather than feeling them. Our bodies are meant to be the filter for our emotions. Somatic therapy utilizes many practices, such as yoga, walks, judo, microdosing, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, or EMDR, and much more. These practices are combined with talk therapy to maximize outcomes.

Through my journey in life, I have acquired some beliefs which provide the infrastructure for my personal philosophy. I believe in the power of humor and laughter to help get us through both the positive and negative times. The disruption of fixed thought that laughter allows gives the mind more flexibility. With a flexible mind, we can approach fairness with a curious mind. Fairness of self and others is the foundation which allows us to be free from bias, allowing truth to shine through. With this clarity, you can live your best life. Don’t let this fool you into thinking your time with me will only be light and airy. There will be a lot of hard work to get the results you desire; however, we will work to infuse the darkness with light along the way.
